Graduate of conducting at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, Raphael Sanchez is a French composer and conductor.

 

Born in Paris, he is a composer, a musical director, and has been the musical friend of the clown and circus Annie Fratellini for almost ten years.

 

As a prolific composer, he is very present in the worlds of Musical Theater and Theater, for which he composes the music of many shows.

 

Very active in the musical theater field, he is notably the musical director of King Lion (2007-2010, Paris) as well as for many musicals of Broadway in their official greatest French versions, in particular Hairspray, The Addams Family, Avenue Q, Spamalot, The Lion King, and Chicago.

 

His musical eclecticism and his personal musical research earned him to be noticed by Cirque du Soleil, who entrusted him with the musical direction of the show Varekai, a show he conducted from 2004 to 2007 on tour in the USA and in Australia and New Zealand.

 

Composer, passionate about musical theater, his musical based on Jean Teulé's novel "Le Magasin des Suicides" (The Shop of Suicides), adapted by Cathy Sabroux, obtained the Beaumarchais Foundation's Creation Aid in 2011.

 

His recent musical "The Book of the Jungle", directed by Ned Grujic, is nominated in Young Audience category for the Molières Awards Competition 2018 in France.
